I saw that you created a group for the Bay Area -- I've got friends down that way, too! (Of course, we Houstonians are so very spread out.) Maybe I can take part in a meet-up over that way at some point.
Like you, I'm interested in socializing and networking with other writers & editors. There is a local critique group, but sometimes I want some socializing more than critiquing -- especially since I already know people who can critique for me. As far as I know, the critique groups don't seem very keen on socializing or networking. And they often focus on fiction -- whereas I write quite a bit of nonfiction.
I'm looking forward to seeing this network grow. Please feel free to invite others.

- Depends on which group. Generally a place to socialize, network, trade hints, make friends and learn from one another. Might be interested in a small critique circle with other journeyman (but not completely new) writers.
